The through-composed musical epic Full Steam Ahead investigates the economic and social impact of Henry Morrison Flagler’s railroad construction projects across Gilded Age Florida. The show follows the lives of Anna, a young debutante, Mendo, a hotel attendant from Cuba, and Will, a Black baseball player. While the United States presses forward into the twentieth century, they must cope with the dramatic change brought about by Flagler’s infrastructural campaigns. Vastly different worlds collide as the trio tries to navigate tumultuous social spheres and foster hope for the future.
